The association "Latvian Sporting federation" was founded in 2001 with the aim of introducing and popularizing a very interesting and exciting hunting shooting discipline in Latvia - sporting. The activity of the Federation during this time can be considered successful, as many interested and enthusiasts were attracted to this sport in a short period of time. Competitions of various scales are held every year. Latvia has world-class shooting ranges and athletes.

Since the 2010 amendments to the Sports Law, only legal entities can become members of the Federation.

The main goal of the Federation is to defend the interests of its members, promote the development of sporting and other shooting sports, and the development of shooting ranges. It is also important to promote sports, attracting new athletes, enthusiasts and interested parties.

Currently, the Federation has set several important tasks, namely to attract as many participants as possible to the competitions organized by the Federation, to raise the level of competitions, to support the best athletes in international competitions, to ensure the organization of international competitions in Latvia. The competitions and athletes organized by the Federation have successfully entered the international sporting scene.

The board of the Latvian Sporting Federation operates in accordance with the powers specified in the organization's statutes. The duties of the members of the board include popularizing shooting sports, making decisions on the organization of shooting competitions, as well as developing the regulations of shooting competitions.
